My mistake, thomasianmd.  Am not sure of the year but I did notice somewhere that there was only one member in a particular batch.  It piques my curiosity that such is allowed.  Could it be the same in other frats? - one member being able to join and surviving the initiation process by himself. I always thought the very essence of fraternities is bonding. And to bond, there must be more than one.  But then again, that one person can bond with the existing members.  Oh well.

My apologies for not properly attributing that Tau Mu Sigma Phi is the first and premier fraternity in the oldest university in Asia (and the only royal and pontifical university, which is celebrating its quadricentennial next year).

our brotherhood transcends age, and I am sure that other fraternities also have this so called quality. The fire of brotherhood in our fraternity is not confined to batches.

Imagine a 65 year old doctor telling his initiation stories to his younger brod medical student, who are in awe, because of the same path they took to be a member of our fraternity.
Me, undergoing surgery to be done by my elder brod.
Alumni drinking with "undergrad" (med is a post graduate course) brods.
concerts, movie premiere, induction ball tulong tulong lahat.

etc etc...multilevel bonding (not confined to batches)

with this in mind, you only need yourself, your will and strength to accept the initiation process but its freaking hard to enter a fraternity alone and I admire those persons, my frat brods who finished our initiations amidst of indirect peer pressure to quit(from their ex-batchmates)

I am not sure if there our fraternities before us (pre war), but we were registered, published and confirmed that we are the first fraternity in UST.

Tomasino ka ba? quadricentennial nga namin next year.

We donated 100,000 US dollars for the establishment of the Thomasian Alumni Bldg.

sa Tau Mu, we usually have pins, a symbol of being an inducted member. since 1970's yung tradition na yun. Others followed.

hindi na uso ang rambulan sa med at law sa USTe, so we are proud to wear frat paraphernalia.

recognized fraternity kaya sila noong 1936?

our list of batches is online. search mo na lang.

regarding sa golden cross and saber, wala akong makita sa facebook page nila, o kahit sa ust corps na history pertaining to the establishment of their fraternity, not the corps ha. our birth, we had it published sa varsitarian, recognized by the university and faculty of medicine and surgery to prove that Tau Mu was founded in January 5, 1946.

ang nakalagay lang dun 1938- foundation etc etc...

so my question is

1. were they registered as a fraternity during 1938?
2. was it documented? presence of any form of writing of their history specifically how they were founded?
3. sino founders nila?

I have no idea, Doc. pero ayun ang claim nila sa website nila '1938 tinatag ang frat nila.

Anyway, who cares! Hehe. Biro lang po.

Mas maganda siguro kung meron silang miyembro dito na makakasagot. ang mahirap lang dyan na mali ang claim ng frat nyo for the past years; na meron pa pala na mas nauna

well, i have yet to see a document or a website of their claim that they are the pioneer fraternity of UST.

ni wala ka ngang makikitang banner, activities o bulletin board claiming that they are the first fraternity in UST.

no history or account of how they were found.

as of now, nil.

mas maganda if they have a separate thread.

majority of thomasian medical students are thomasian premed graduates (unlike me, graduated at UPLB BS Bio Major in Zoology)

they will surely know the existence of such fraternity before 1946, I think that time ROTC was a requirement.

like you i really dont care, our fraternity was born out of a desire, a collective effort by third year and fourth year medical students, a true "greek" college fraternity of the UST Faculty of Medicine and Surgery dedicated to service, celebrating brotherhood, excelling academically, and harnessing leadership to its members.

as a testament to that, sa mismong rector kami nag pledge ng 100,000 US Dollars for the Alumni Bldg.

aside from the renovations of the Ophtha ward of the USTH, several donations to UST Medical Alumni Association, sponsoring over a hundred medical missions, our frat's name is embedded to a honorary plate in front of the Dean's office of the Med Bldg.

if they are really the first fraternity in UST, we are still the first recognized college/medical fraternity in UST.

never died. never revived.

Now how the hell can psychological torture, paddling and ecchymoses be tolerated in a Catholic institution? I see nothing Royal, Pontifical, or Catholic about that. Thomasian Medical Students vow never to abort babies but you can paddle asses really hard in every initiation.

Primum non nocere. First do not harm. So much for being a "the" Catholic University. Now I really feel thankful to be an atheist.

Please explain.

Atheist, you are a barbarian hence you know nothing of our fraternity and the "other" fraternities in UST MED.  You dont belong here.

You dont even deserve this reply.

Instead of ranting about my fraternity, you do something worth your time, like saving lives, organizing missions, and giving what your "school/hospital/university" deserves. And try asking Tauans regarding your inquiry. You can approach me if you want to, go to the Department of ENT-Head and Neck Surgery of our hospital. ask for my username.

And it is not "do not harm", it should be Do No Harm. Amateur. Do not cyberbully my fraternity nor any other frats, nor God.

Good day to all responsible fratmen.
