On February 9, 1973, UP SILAB Sisterhood was founded. It was through the initiative and effort of a group of friends who are all speaking Hiligayanon in UP Diliman that SILAB was born. Friendship and a common goal of serving the UP community and society as a whole is the very foundation that has created it.


Charter Members

Since its inception the fire has been the symbol of the SILAB way of life. A life which is bounded by the spirit of lifetime commitment to the sisterhood and to each individual that comprises it. In their pursuit to live up to the goals and mission of the sisterhood, the members through the generations have kept the fire burning.

Throughout the years, SILAB has produced individuals who excel and are respected in their own fields and will continue to do the same for the years to come. The true essence of sisterhood is the legacy that SILAB will continue to pass through its members from generation to generation and wishes to share to others as well.

The fire which symbolizes the SILAB way of life will continue to be within the hearts of each members even after they venture on to their fields of endeavor. No matter how far each is from the others the fire will keep them together. This is the promise each is bound to keep forever.

before i have a boardmate na SILAK basta sinabi nya sakin kung anung year,,..

That's probably because you're not from UP (I assume).
UP SILAK and UP SILAB are well-known in UP Visayas - in both Iloilo and Miagao.
We also have projects for/in the UP Diliman community.

The UP SILAB Sisterhood was actually established on February 11,1973 in UP Diliman, and on September 11, 1975 in UP Visayas.
And we speak Hiligaynon, not "Hiligayanon", although I believe that's a typo error from our own website (doh!).

UP SILAK was established on September 21, 1971. Sinong boardmate mo?

na found ang UP SILAK noong september 21, 1971.. exactly a year before martial law..

hindi ka siguro nanggaling sa UPdil or UP visayas.. (assume lng)
or you're not from a hiligaynon/ilonggo  speaking place.. (assume again)
if you were then you would probably know us..
people say we run key ilonggo cities like iloilo, bacolod, san jose, roxas city and etc..
prominent daw kasi mga alumni namin sa mga lugar na to.. hehe..
