@ambot : Latagaw means Wanderer... naglatagaw is wandering...
so basically Latagaw Brotherhood is a brotherhood of wanderers. wanderers in the sense that we wander through life with different goals and paths but we are joined together in brotherhood. for wherever we meet, we are brothers. ^^,
@bong jovi: atm walang recruitment sa diliman. and not enough ang residents to be recognize by the school. pero the alums are still active and so is the few remaining or cross-registered residents. still hoping for its revival... but UP Latagaw Brotherhood is alive and prospering in UP mindanao, cebu and visayas.

Yung description mo sa Latagaw Brotherhood parang similar sa Lumabay-labay Club ng UPLB. Mga Illonggo din ba founders/members ng UP Latagaw?

The Latagaw Brotherhood originally aimed to cater all Visayan-speaking students in the University of the Philippines since all its founders came from the Visayas and Mindanao regions respectively. They called themselves "Latagaw", rooted from a Cebuano word meaning wanderer, which punctuated the essence that each and every member became "Wanderers in Life". Cebuano became the official dialect and used to be as a primary requirement, one had to come from the Visayas or Mindanao, as well as speak the Cebuano dialect in order to join the Brotherhoood. However, due to a dynamic nature of the Brotherhood, these were changed and thus the acceptance of members that do not speak the Visayan dialect.
The Latagaw Brotherhood expanded to other University of the Philippines campuses all over the country in the next succeeding years. On October 29, 1976, the UP Cebu Chapter was established and founded by three members namely: Jose Filemon Allid, Marino Martinquilla and Sixto Rey Orig. Another batch of Latagaw arrived in UP Iloilo and founded the UP Iloilo Chapter on June 3, 1988 by Rey Ballos Guttierez and Francisco Macansantos. The University of the Philippines in Mindanao, the youngest unit in the UP System opened in 1996, and the Latagaw from the other chapters were determined to spread the Latagaw flame into the region. Thus, on July 14, 2000, five new Latagaw and one Latagaw from UP Iloilo chapter pioneered the establishment of the UP Mindanao Chapter namely: Gian Carlo Andrada, Rodel Barcelona, Jeremy Patrick Cabrera, Rey Vincent Chan, Ralph James Paclibar and Francis Lloyd Rioferio. The Latagaw alumni brothers, Cyril Cole, Rey Ballos Guttierez, Mike de Guzman and Julius Quiz, who initiated this new chapter eventually became its co-founders.
